Somerset, CA, October 10, 2024 — A recent field trial conducted at Mastroserios Winery has demonstrated the remarkable benefits of ProLifix, a horticultural oil and plant biostimulant, in boosting vine health, yield, and fruit quality for Petite Sirah grapes.
The trial, spanning from April to October 2024, treated select vineyard rows with ProLifix across three applications, while non-treated rows served as controls. Results showcased significant improvements in grape maturity, yield, and overall wine quality:
- Enhanced Sugar Levels: Treated vines consistently exhibited higher brix levels throughout the growing season, achieving 24.2 brix by early September compared to 23.6 in control vines.
- Improved Maturity: ProLifix-treated grapes reached optimal maturity earlier, reducing dehydration and raisining while maintaining excellent enological values.
- Higher Yield: At harvest, treated rows yielded noticeably more grapes with less shrinkage than non-treated rows.
- Superior Wine Quality: Wine produced from ProLifix-treated grapes displayed lighter, floral, and fruity fragrances, and required no acidity adjustments during fermentation.
“The trial confirmed that ProLifix not only accelerates fruit maturity but also enhances yield and maintains exceptional wine characteristics,” said Ruggero Mastroserio of Mastroserios Winery. “This could be a game-changer for vineyard management.”
ProLifix provides a dual benefit by acting as both a biostimulant and a pesticide, promoting healthier plants and higher-quality crops without leaving harmful residues. For organic and conventional vineyards alike, it’s a sustainable step forward in viticulture.
